Symphonic Band

Our Symphonic Band is an ensemble that is offered to our intermediate musicians and is the highest ensemble at Quartz Hill. The Symphonic Band performs Grade 3-4 pieces and attends Festival in the spring. Students get a good overview of music theory and develop the technical skills needed to advance as a Musician. To give proper instruction to everyone, students will be auditioned in the first weeks of school to determine if one is better suited for this band.

Overview

The Quartz Hill Symphonic Band is an audition-based ensemble dedicated to advanced musicianship. This ensemble performs challenging repertoire and participates in concerts, festivals, and clinics throughout the school year.

Students are expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment to both rehearsals and individual practice.

This ensemble heavily uses Vertical/Pure Tuning methods, uses weekly intonation charts, and focuses on advanced music theory methods to perform at their best.

Auditions/placements are held at the end of the previous school year and during Freshman Camp. Audition materials regularly include etudes, scales, and sight-reading.

Past membership in the ensemble does not guarantee a spot the following year.
